Did you Volunteer for this?

I cringed a little, but deep down I think I appreciate what you did here

For once I was not Voluntold.

My thought on East Tennessee is that I-40 is awful (granted it’s worse in NC). I have no doubt that for those with the time to meander, there are a lot of better places to be.
Also I don’t know if it’s sufficiently east, but I did have another strong thought approaching Knoxville:
The Wigsphere!

West TN is much less beautiful. Although I loved my school and Memphis was cool for 4 years, I always kind of wanted to be on the other side haha

I40 is reallly pretty coming down off the Cumberland Plateau and I actually liked I40 getting into Ashe ville since its also very pretty.

Anyone East of Jackson is more than willing to offer West Tennessee to Arkansas where it belongs.

I found it cramped with insufficient shoulders and lots of trucks. It would probably have been pretty if it didn’t feel like I was constantly at risk of hitting things. I-26 into Ashe ville was a much nice drive, though it felt pretty steep for an I nterstate I’m not sure under-powered vehicles would like it .

It is very cramped with no shoulders but its soo purdy.

Superchargers or Turbos?
![]() 04/11/2019 at 11:57 |
|
Don’t remember diving a supercharged car, but turbos are a ton of fun with the non-linear power.

Heading up to Windrock Bike Park ?
For real though what do you think of Chattanooga or K
noxville as cities to live in?
![]() 04/11/2019 at 12:02 |

I have to agree with loving the non-linear power application of old school turbos. It’s a bit sad to see manufacturers working so hard to eliminate the lag in modern systems.
Superchargers do make better noises though.

Have you driven and taken pictures in front of the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge?

We did 4wheeling at W indrock.
I’ve never lived in Chat but it is a pretty cool place. Knoxville is a fantastic city but I lived there as a college kid. If you want to drive and see the outdoors, Knoxville might be a bit better, but you can;t go wrong in either.

I’ve driven past it because I40 was such a mess one time but I was just trying to get home haha.

Who has better BBQ- Memphis or North Carolina?
![]() 04/11/2019 at 12:18 |
|
NC BBQ is trash. Just straight vinegar. Memhpis is dry as could be. Give me Kansas City st yle but made in Tennessee or Alabama.
![]() 04/11/2019 at 12:33 |

Been looking at those cities as well!

Chatt is probably my #1 target for relocation if we do it (voluntarily). The job market is kind of small, but the overall opportunities and lifestyle there are awesome. Like Boulder at half the price and slightly less obnoxious hippies.
![]() 04/11/2019 at 13:41 |

Neither. Central Texas is the BBQ you are seeking.

What Ash78 said. Chattanooga is the shit, but people who like towns like Boulder and Asheville haven’t discovered it yet. Or destroyed it yet, at least.
I think Knoxville is annoying (or it was ten years ago, anyway).

You guys really aren’t making this any easier lol

Where did you matriculate through ? That is, if you don’t mind me asking.

A very small school : https://www.cbu.edu/

That’s cool, never heard of it.

That’s the typical response lmao. I liked the program plus they gave me academic and athletic scholarships so it made my decision pretty easy.

Gotcha. I went to ga tech cause apparently that’s the family tradition.
![]() 04/11/2019 at 18:47 |

Makes sense and seems way less pretentious than a tradition of Yale or something like that. The CFO of my company and his son both went to UCSB. I’m curious to see if his daughters go there as well.
My family has no traditions like that, mostly bc my brothers and I were the first generation to go to college lmao
![]() 04/11/2019 at 21:33 |

Well, my grandad and dad are both GT engineers, as the third in a row, I'd consider it a tradition at this point.
![]() 04/11/2019 at 22:56 |

That’s awesome! Definitely tradition at this point.

That, sir, is the correct answer. You win a trip to the front of the line at Franklin’s in Austin!

Best meat= Texas. Best sauce, I prefer KC. But I won’t kick any of it out of bed!

I'd pick Angelo's in Ft. Worth first, but Franklin's is certainly a fine choice, too.
